The Ladygang

The Ladygang is hands down our favorite podcast. It’s an interview talk show hosted by the self-proclaimed “Hollywood’s hottest girl posse” and we can’t disagree. The hosts, Keltie Knight (Entertainment Tonight), Becca Tobin (Glee), and Jac Vanek (of Jac Vanek clothing) talk all things fame, womanhood and lifestyle, leaving no topic or trend untouched. This podcast feels like hanging with your girlfriends, if your girls were actual celebrities and they hung out in your car during rush hour traffic. Their gossip is so good that they’ve turned their weekly (now bi-weekly) podcast into an exclusive Facebook group and a newly premiered show on E!, so this is one you cannot miss. They release new episodes every Tuesday and “Quickie” minisodes every Thursday. Check out the episode where our CEO, Calli Cholodenko, serves up social media insights and tips here.

jen-gotch-ok-sometimes-bando

Jen Gotch Is Ok Sometimes

Take your favorite aesthetic entrepreneur and give her a Sophia Amoruso-funded platform to cry into a microphone and that is Jen Gotch’s podcast. You might get teary-eyed from all the realness, but with all the emotional breakthroughs you’ll be having on the elliptical, it’s well worth it. This podcast is best for throwing on when you’re in transit or doing mindless tasks. Jen’s insights are incredible, self-reflexive and deserve your full auditory attention. Our favorite episode thus far is the one where she gets real on how social media built her business but also took a toll on her mental health. She acknowledges that she can’t live without the scroll (for business and personal reasons) and puts forward some suggestions on how to make your interactions with social more intentional. my-favorite-murder

My Favorite Murder

This one is way more than a true crime podcast. It’s comedy, it’s intelligent, it’s a worldwide community that recasts female victims as fully-developed human beings who are more than the chalk-outline plot devices they are typically portrayed as. Hosts Georgia Hardstark (writer and host for the Cooking Channel) and Karen Kilgariff (stand-up comedian and writer on Mr. Show and Ellen) bring their entertaining chops to the true crime genre, diving into the depths of horrific human behavior. This dynamic duo turned their podcast into the book Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered -a solid summary of the show’s emphasis on vigilance and self-defense- and a Facebook community boasting a casual +100k members who not only discuss their fascination with serial killers, but also openly discuss and console each others’ mental health issues. The podcast has been raved about in Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, and Rolling Stone and their international live tapings are consistently sold-out. Get a stab at the action with our favorite episode, taped live at the Boulder Theatre here.

Armchair Expert with Dax Shephard

Dax Shepard is fascinated by “the messiness of being human” and this podcast definitely digs down to the deep, dirty roots of it. His podcast is unshockingly star-studded. Past episodes have featured Amy Schumer explaining why being a woman sucks and Lena Dunham exploring her addiction to and subsequent withdrawals from her prescribed anti-anxiety medication which she described as “the most hellacious acid trip you’ve ever had.” Shephard releases new episodes every Monday and curates an ongoing list of favorite books and documentaries that delve into the human condition that you can check out here. Our favorite episode is the one where he interviews Seth Rogen. Listen here.

oprah-winfrey-super-soul-conversations

Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations

We don’t have to tell you about the soul-shaking podcast that is Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations, but we will because if you don’t know, you have to know. Oprah somehow decided that she’s not already contributing enough to the world with her own TV show-turned-network, book club, and magazine. In this podcast, she interviews thought-leaders, best-selling authors, and spiritual luminaries to connect to the deeper meaning of the world around us. It’s Oprah. You know it’s good. Whether it’s chatting sexuality and motherhood with pornstars or instant gratification with The Bachelor contestants, Candace and Kayla have a stake in what is relatable and real. Although these actresses are shrouded in clouds of Hollywood glamour, they get into the nitty gritty of on-set pumping and the pressure of personal, professional expectations.
